New Children’s Museum

Wow! The new children’s museum was so fun that I wrote a review about it.

Here it is:

In downtown San Diego, there is the New Children’s Museum. There is so much to see and do there! There are so many exciting exhibits, here are three of them: The first one is called the Wonder Sound this one is for all ages so you can go in it too! If you have a baby or toddler they can also go to this exhibit! The Wonder Sound is magical, it makes you feel at home. It is beautiful and artistic. It might even be the most unique thing I have ever seen! Wes is the man who created the Wonder Sound, I can tell that he put a lot of time and effort in it because it even has its own language! There are so many units in the Wonder Sound, and if you go to the very top point you can look down and see EVERYTHING! The Wonder Sound has beautiful messages and it is a great inspiration to kids.

Next to the Wonder Sound there is a place called the rain house, it is a small little cabin and when you go in you can hear the pattering of rain drops falling on the roof. My opinion is that if it were raining then I would want to be in the rain house.

The third exhibit is the Home Tower, the best part of the home tower is that it has different units like the H is a unit the O is a unit the M is a unit and the E is a unit!

There are stairs to the H and that is the highest point. It is so tall and when I am up there I feel like I am floating but then again I feel like I am going to fall and that is not a good feeling. The good part about the Home Tower is that it is so big and everyone has their own space. I really liked the Home Tower, the Wonder Sound, and the Rain House. I think you should go to the New Children’s Museum!
The New Children’s Museum was a great inspiration to this story:

Running is making me tired so I walk then I think, “No he will catch up to me,” I say. So I start jogging “perfect” I say then once I get to the portal I say, “This is the most hard part of task” then I look into the red eyes. I do not blink for five seconds so the portal opens then I walk in but before it closes my family gives me a quote that says you are: brave, kind and creative. I start to tear up but I keep it in then I give my family a hug the portal closes before I know it. I will see them again. I look down at the quote then I look at the word brave I say, “This is my new favorite word.” All is quiet then I hear a thump I think to myself I am not the only one in here all the sudden I flop out of the portal. “That HURT!” I yell. I miss my family I think to myself I start crying… I jump back into the portal before it closes it go back up. “Here we go,” I say then I flop out again. “OW ow ow ow ow ow,” I yell. My family heard me and ran right to me.

An Exciting Project

WOW! That was such a fun project! Me and my class made something called a poetry poster. “What is a poetry poster” you ask me? Well a poetry poster is poster with a poem on it that YOU wrote! But it is not just a poster with a poem on it… We also got to put a picture on it that goes with the poem. So I hope that you enjoy my poem on my poetry poster here’s mine:

Bacon the Pig

Our class does something very special, they are called vocabulary words. We also have something called the morning message and we have a vocabulary word that we are studying, and it is on the morning message. We try to guess the meaning of the vocabulary word. And on Friday we reveal what the vocabulary word means. Because we study vocabulary words, my class made a vocabulary story. (The bold words are vocabulary words.) Here’s mine:

These days people think that every animal always has a home whether it is with a human or out in the rainforest or in the hasty packed park. Well I’m about to tell you a story that might change your mind about that thought. So be engrossed  and I will tell you a little story of a piggy that had a perfect life, but that changed and the little piggy had to strive.
About three years ago there was a little piggy named Bacon. Bacon had a perfect life. Although Bacon was all alone he tried to diminish his haste for friends. Bacon loved his home although it was by a big loud city called NEW YORK! He didn’t mind the sound though because every single day he was nestled in his little hole. That’s right Bacon lived in a hole! Bacon’s hole had a very small opening but since he was a teacup pig he stayed small and was always able to fit in his small little hole. Down down below Bacon’s small opening to his hole was a vast amount of space! Bacon had SO much room! And believe me bacon is so adept at finding his room he is never in a quandary to find his room. Then one day Bacon woke to the roar of an engine! So he went out of his hole. And what did he see? A CRANE! Bacon squealed and ran back into his hole. Two days had passed and Bacon came out of his hole. He looked around vigalently… his home was now A PARK! Bacon’s hole was suddenly embedded  in dirt! Bacon squeals and ran out of his hole. For three long days Bacon used a rock as his pillow! Then one super sunny afternoon he was rolling in the mud when he saw something go into a different hole, the thing was holding gems and pearls they lustered as the sun shined off of them. Bacon was curious. So he went closer to the thing and saw that it was a… RACCOON? Bacon was not scared at all in fact he went over to the raccoon and he said, “that is nice!” Then the raccoon said, “ya I know.” Bacon smiled back at the raccoon and said “no silly I mean your hole.” The raccoon didn’t care he just said, “go back home you pig.” Bacon did as told and went back to his rock but he could not resist so for three days after that Bacon came back to the raccoon’s hole. On the forth day he went back to the raccoon’s hole. But when Bacon was walking by animal patrol picked him up and said, “I might have you for dinner, or I might bring you back to the pound.” Suddenly the raccoon jumped out of his hole and hissed, the animal patrol screeched and dropped Bacon, the raccoon pulled Bacon into his hole and said, “you know how you love this hole? Well now you live here.” Bacon said ” What is your name?” The raccoon then said, “My name is Pebbles.” And Bacon and Pebbles lived together, and they still do.

Storybird

Yay! We are finding out about another app. This app is called Storybird and just from the name of it, that app sounds fun! And really it was fun but also tricky because of how complicated it was and because of how many things you have to remember. The first thing that we had to do was go into the app version, but that did not really work. So then we had to do the other version which is something that looked like an app but when you pressed on it it took you to a… Website! The website is called Storybird.com so when you press on the “app” you come into website and after a few seconds a bunch of pictures come up and when you press on one of the pictures something comes up and it says “save image” and you press it and then that picture comes up with some of the author’s other pictures. Then you have to try to make a story that relates to your title. Ror example, my title was “Panda Meets Snow ” so of course my story had to do with pandas.

I really liked working with storybird and I recommend this program for all ages, so try out Storybird. Look at my Storybird story down below.

Two Voice Poem

Our class learned a kind of writing called a two voice poem and it was really fun because we did it in a cool way. Each of us had a partner and that partner would say your two voice poem with you, first we had to practice the two
voice poem to get use to it and then we could read it. We each had a poem so we had to practice two times each. My partner had a shorter poem and my poem had longer words, so we did my partners first. We had to record the
poems in an app that could keep them safe and one of the apps that would keep it safe and would let us be able to go in and see the poem easily was an app called Garage Band. Garage Band was pretty easy to work with and when you were saying something into Garage Band it has a feature, that you can press a button and it could change the tone of your voice, like it can go on robot and many more but we did not use that for this poem. Well doing that was really fun!

A Unique Field Trip

On Wednesday 4/20/16 I went to the placid San Elijo lagoon for a very special field trip for my class. There I had so much fun even though it was dry, but that did not stop us! To be set up we had something that we had to do and that was called field notes. A field note is something that you think is cool so we had to write what we saw. I was interested in some very cool things there.   The first thing that I was interested in was this thing that was so amazing I think it was a bee cave! I saw this bee cave at the edge of one of the cliffs and I am pretty sure that the bee hive was inside of the bee cave but I do not know. And when I was over by this cool tree I saw a… California brown pelican! I thought that that the pelican was very unique because of its colors. When I was in a spot with a lot of flowers I saw a close up of a bee I just had to take a picture of it! It was almost like the bee wanted a picture of itself, it was just so amazing! I had a really fun time here at the placid San Elijo lagoon.

Fish

There are many fish that live in the ocean but not all of them live together. There are three different zones in the ocean. The first one is called the sunlight zone because it is not hard for sunlight to travel through. As you go down less animals are there so now we are at the next zone and that is the second zone. It is called the twilight zone it is not pitch black. Once you’re down in the twilight zone the water gets colder and vampire fish start to pop out. They are very amazing because not only do they have lights on their head but also on their body. As we go down it is getting darker and colder. Finally we are at the midnight zone. It is pitch black and there are less species of the ocean.

So because there is a open and wonderful ocean out there, it inspired our class to do a project about the ocean. So we had to sketch out a fish that we liked. It could be realistic or it could be whimsical ( that means fiction). I wanted to do whimsical and I thought I did pretty well. So this is what we had to do. First we had to sketch what we wanted to shape it like, but we could not draw inside of the fish. What we could do is make lines to put the tiny details in the line. We also had to make the lines curved so then it looked like it was not flat in the ocean. So that was our first sketch and we did that in our sketch notebook. But then after we finished that, we did are last iteration and that was on a big piece of black paper and we chose black paper because the pencil will not show too well and the light colors would show really well. After we got our fish drawn on the paper we had to put glue on the outside so then the pastel would stay inside the lines. Wow! We are putting some elbow grease in this ( that means that we are doing some hard work) so that was really hard but also fun and I think that I did my best!

A Journey Going Home

In January we got to do a class project and it was a really exciting project because we got to bring are iPads home. For me it was really cool because I have never brought my school iPad home before. So here is how it went, we had to pick out a product and my product was a surfboard. It had to be a toy or for me a surfboard that we like or something that we bought or got for Christmas. If you are getting kind of confused about what is a product review, then I will tell you. A product is a toy or an item that you might like a little or a lot. A review is a reflection or a piece of writing and more. But if you want to find out more then watch my video!

The Western Prickly Pear

This week our class went to the NAT.  I learned about the western prickly pear. I learned that people can eat the prickly pear and I was a little bit surprised that you could eat it. I also learned that some animals can step on it and that the prickly pear only grows in three spots. And I learned that the foods can also be eaten by western animals. It was fun to go to the NAT. I got to learn a lot of things and it was fun
And we had a good time.
